Skills

Invoke a skill by typing a slash followed by the skill's name, so Emerge.ai handles your request using a proven approach for that kind of work.

What you'll do

A skill gives Emerge.ai a tried approach for one kind of work — the structure, conventions, and checks that kind of task calls for. Use one and you get an answer shaped for the job, instead of a general answer you have to shape yourself.

Open a chat, type / followed by the skill's name, and describe what you want in the same message.

Step-by-step

  1. Open a chat in Emerge.ai.
  2. Type / in the message box, followed by the skill's name with the spaces removed.
  3. Check that the name you typed is highlighted as a colored pill — that is how you can see which skill is active before you send.
  4. Write your request in the same message, then send it.

Emerge.ai applies the skill you named to that request.

Skills are invoked deliberately. A skill is applied only when you name it in the message with / — Emerge.ai does not choose a skill for you, and no skill runs on its own.

Definitions

  • Skill — a specialized capability Emerge.ai applies to a request, so the work follows a proven approach for that kind of task.
  • Slash invocation — typing / followed by a skill's name in the chat message box. This is the only way a skill is applied to a request.

Which skills you have

There is no fixed catalog of skills. Skills belong to a Cloud: your team's skills are managed in Cloud Settings → Skills, and the set you can invoke is whatever that screen holds today. Typing / in the message box is the quickest way to see what is available to you.

A skill can also be switched off. A disabled skill does not apply, even if you name it — if a / name stops working, check its state in Cloud Settings → Skills.

What you type

The name you type after / is the skill's name with the spaces removed. When the chat input recognizes it, it highlights the name as a colored pill — that is your confirmation, before you send, of which skill is active.
