FAQ
Answers to common questions about Emerge.ai pricing, privacy, models and support.
Pricing
How does Emerge.ai's pricing work?
Every plan comes with an amount of AI usage and a number of Clouds (separate spaces for your work), and you pick the plan whose allowance and Cloud count fit how you actually work. Plans step up along a few axes: how much usage you get, how many Clouds you can run, and the size of team they're built for, with specialized support at the top tier. Individual plans are built for one person; Business plans are built for larger teams and add team and admin capabilities on top. Enterprise pricing is custom.
Your usage shows as two meters on the AI Usage page: a daily one that's yours alone, and a weekly one shared by everyone on the plan. Each shows when it resets, so there are no surprises. The weekly reset means your usage comes back every week rather than as one large pool you could exhaust early in the month — it keeps usage steady and predictable. If you want more, change plan or buy Extra AI Tokens on top of it. See Plans, Tokens & Billing.
Is Emerge.ai free to use?
Yes — Emerge.ai has a Free plan, with no credit card required, that you can use at sign up. The Free plan gives you a real, hands-on feel for the product with daily usage limits, so you can try out the AI models and see how Emerge.ai fits into your day before paying anything.
It's designed as a true taste of the product rather than a substitute for a paid plan. When you find yourself wanting more usage, more Clouds, or the full set of features and platforms, moving up to a paid plan unlocks them — Lockdown Mode and local models in the desktop app (beta), for example, need a paid plan. There is no pressure and no commitment to start.
What are my payment options?
You can pay by credit or debit card, with Apple Pay, or directly from your bank. Paid plans are billed monthly, and you can cancel anytime in Settings → Plan and Billing. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.
If you subscribed inside the mobile app, your plan is billed through the App Store or Google Play instead. See Plans bought in the app.
How many users are supported on each plan?
Individual plans are designed for one person. Business plans are built for teams and scale up as you grow. Each plan card lists a recommended fit to make that choice easy:
| Plan | What the plan card says |
|---|---|
| Business | "For teams up to 25" |
| Business Pro | "For teams up to 50" |
| Business Max | "For teams up to 250" |
| Enterprise | "Custom usage and limits" |
The right way to choose is by matching the plan to your team's size and how much you expect to use Emerge.ai day to day, rather than just counting logins. On a Business plan, everyone shares the plan's weekly usage. See The plans.
Can I switch plans anytime?
Yes. You're never locked into a plan — you can upgrade as your usage or team grows, or change your plan whenever your needs shift, right from your account settings: open Settings → Plan and Billing and select Change Plan (or View plans on the Free plan). The goal is that your plan always matches how you're actually working, with no friction to move between tiers.
If you bought your plan in the mobile app, change it in the App Store or Google Play. And because Lockdown Mode needs a paid plan, check it after any plan change.
What are Extra AI Tokens?
Extra AI Tokens are prepaid tokens you can add on top of your plan, from the Extra AI Tokens card on the AI Usage page. Your plan's own usage is measured by the daily and weekly meters, and tokens don't change those limits. What tokens do is keep premium models running once you reach a limit: Emerge.ai uses them automatically at that point, and they never expire. Amounts and prices are under Extra AI Tokens.
Additionally, on paid plans chat carries on with the Emerge Fast & Free models when you reach a limit, with no usage cap. That's Unlimited AI.
What happens if I reach my usage limit?
You're never abruptly cut off. As your usage meter fills up, you have clear choices for how to keep going. On paid plans, chat carries on with the Emerge Fast & Free models. On Free, chat pauses until your allowance resets. If you'd rather stay on a premium model, or one specific model, you can purchase Extra AI Tokens to top up, and Emerge.ai uses them automatically once you're at the limit. And local models are always free and don't count toward your limits.
Limits reset on their own, and the AI Usage page shows when. See When you reach a limit.
What is Unlimited AI?
Unlimited AI is included in every paid plan: reaching a usage limit doesn't stop you from working. With most AI tools, hitting a limit simply blocks you until it resets. Emerge.ai is built so you always have a path forward: after you reach your plan's daily or weekly limit, chat carries on with the Emerge Fast & Free models with no usage cap. Fair use applies. You can also buy Extra AI Tokens to stay on a premium model, or switch to a free local model, which doesn't count toward your limits. The Free plan doesn't include Unlimited AI.
On a paid plan, that means you can always finish what you're doing. The limit shapes which model you use and how much you spend, not whether you can keep working at all.
Privacy
Is Emerge.ai private?
Privacy is the foundation of Emerge.ai. We believe your data should stay yours. When you use Emerge.ai's private models — the Emerge Private Hosted group in the model picker — your data is always protected, and your request stays with Emerge.ai instead of going to an outside AI provider.
Lockdown Mode lets you restrict your account, or a whole Cloud, to Emerge.ai's private models only, so sensitive work never touches a third-party model. In the product's words, your Cloud then uses "only Emerge's private models — no third-party providers, and none of your data leaves Emerge."
Can I use Airplane mode on my laptop or mobile?
On mobile, yes. Download a local model in the Emerge.ai mobile app, and chat works fully offline — no internet connection, and no limit on how much you use it. That makes Emerge.ai usable on a plane, in a dead zone, or anywhere you simply don't want to be online.
On a laptop, the Emerge.ai desktop app (beta, for Mac and Windows) can run local models on your computer on paid plans. See What is a Local model?
Models
The model picker in the product is the live list of models. The names below are examples, and the list changes over time.
How does the Auto-Selector work?
Auto-Selector takes the guesswork out of choosing a model. Leave Auto selected in the model picker and Emerge.ai picks a model for each request, so you consistently get high-quality results without having to know the strengths of every model. If you ever want full control, you can override it and pick a specific model yourself for any task.
Auto isn't available while Lockdown Mode is on. See Auto, or a specific model.
What is a Local model?
A local model is an AI model that runs directly on your own device rather than in the cloud.
- On mobile: Download a model in the Emerge.ai app, and chat works fully offline — even in airplane mode — with no limit on how much you use it. Which models you can download is shown in the app
- On your computer (beta): On paid plans, the Emerge.ai desktop app for Mac and Windows can chat with open models running on your computer through the free Ollama app, or a model server you already use like LM Studio. Replies are free and don't count toward your plan's usage limits, and your chat history still saves to your Cloud like any other chat. Cloud Settings has a switch to allow or turn off local models for a Cloud
They're the option to reach for when you want zero usage cost, or AI access without internet.
What is a Private model?
Private models are powerful open models — such as Nemotron Cascade 2 — that Emerge.ai hosts for you. In the model picker they're the Emerge Private Hosted group. The "private" part refers to where your request goes: instead of being sent to an outside AI provider, it stays with Emerge.ai. That gives you strong AI performance with a much tighter data boundary than using a third-party commercial model directly.
They're a good choice for everyday work, and Lockdown Mode limits chat to Emerge.ai's private models; which ones exactly is set by Emerge.ai, so check the picker. See Emerge Private Hosted.
What is a Premium model?
Premium models are leading commercial AI models — like Claude Sonnet and Gemini Pro — well suited to high-quality everyday work across writing, analysis, coding, and more. They're available on every Emerge.ai plan, and they're a good choice when you want strong, polished results and don't need the absolute most powerful option available.
What is a Frontier model?
Frontier models are the most capable AI models in the world — like Claude Opus — built for your hardest, most demanding tasks: complex reasoning, large or intricate problems, and work where you want the highest possible quality. They're available on every paid Emerge.ai plan, and they're the option to reach for when the task truly justifies it.
